Print branding and scannable prints

In short

Print branding adds a bar along the bottom of every photo your community prints: your words, a color and finish, your logo, and optional Linxy elements. Any host can use it. It is set up with a short guided wizard in Customize, and you can see the actual print and print a test sheet before a single guest request goes out.

Scannable prints go one step further: the print carries an invisible Linxy Mark, so scanning the paper photo with the Linxy App opens that photo in the community. If your account has scannable prints turned on, each host still chooses whether to use them. The default is No, just print.

Setting up print branding

In the web app, open the community, choose Customize, and find Print branding (“Add your name, colors and logo to every print”). Choose Get started and the wizard walks through the steps below. Steps that don’t apply to your choice are left out, and the words and arrange steps can be skipped.

StepWhat you choose
How should your prints look?Plain prints (just the photo), Branding bar (your name across the bottom), Logo on the photo (a logo in a corner), or Bar + logo
Choose the bar colorA bar color from colors tested to print sharp and scan well (the first one follows your accent color), and a Finish such as flat or a texture
What should the bar say?A Headline (about 30 characters fits on a 4×6) and an optional Second line, such as the occasion and its date. Under Linxy on your bar you can add Linxy elements such as “Scan with the Linxy App”; some are marked (always included)
Arrange your printPhoto position: the bar takes the bottom of the print, so slide between Keep the top (heads), Centre and Keep the bottom to choose which part of each photo stays. Logo: No logo, or + Add logo (a PNG with a transparent background or an SVG works best). In the bar, choose Left side or Right side and a size; on the photo, drag it, size it, or snap it to a corner
Make prints scannable? No, just print (the default), Yes, mark the bar, or Yes, mark the photo, and what a scan opens. If your account doesn’t have scannable prints, this step says so and everything else still prints
Looks good?See the actual print, built the same way the print file is, then save
Dark bars with light lettering read best. In print tests, a darker bar with white or light elements looked cleanest and scanned most reliably. Light bars (such as Cream) also scan well.

Logos, and your old photo stamp

Logos are never marked. The photo or bar is marked first, and your logo is placed on top afterward at the same spot, so a logo never gets in the way of a scan.

If your community already used a photo stamp and it sits where the bar now goes, the wizard shows Your logo moved into the branding bar with a preview. Nothing is saved until you choose Continue, and you can put the logo back on the photo in Arrange your print. Once print branding is saved, it takes over from the older stamp settings, which remain under Stamp placement (advanced) until then. Once saved, that card is hidden and you use Change print branding instead.

Scannable prints

When scannable prints are on, each printed photo gets its own invisible Linxy Mark. Reprints of the same photo reuse the same Mark. Under When someone scans a print, open… you choose where a scan goes:

ChoiceA scan opens
This photo in the communityThat photo’s post in the community album
The community feedThe community’s feed
The photo albumThe whole album
The invitation pageThe Occasion’s invitation
A link I choose…Any address you enter

Marking happens before the print is sent, including with auto-print. If branding or marking fails for a print, it still goes out — as the plain photo, with white where the bar would have been — and that print won’t scan.

What to mark

The bar onlyPhotos of people. Faces and skin stay untouchedNot needed — the bar is always marked the same way, whatever you pick
The whole photoScenery, objects, photos without facesUnder More options, choose Close for prints held in the hand (4–10″) or Arm’s length for prints on a table or wall (11–20″)

Linxy uses settings proven in test prints on photo paper, scanned with the Linxy App, so there is nothing to tune. The Mark is added at the final print size, and the file is never resized afterward.

Credits

Each marked print uses one Linxy Mark credit. Credits come first from any pool set aside for your occasion or event, then from your account’s credits. Prints beyond both are tallied and settled later — printing doesn’t stop. Branding without marking uses no credits, and previews and test sheets never do.

Checking before the event

Use See the actual print in the wizard, then Print a test sheet: a PDF with every size your community offers, exactly as they will print (unmarked). Print it on the printer and paper you will use on the day.
