What a community is

In short

A community is a shared space that lives on one Linxy Mark. People who scan that Mark — or a Linxy IQ card made for it, or an invite link — can join, and once they are in they post, comment, react, and add photos to one shared album. Where the host allows it, they can also ask for printed copies of those photos.

A community is not an Event and not a Brand Connection. It is the place where the people around one thing — a family, a class, a team, a congregation, a wedding — keep in touch before, during and after it. Every Occasion creates one automatically.

What a community holds

PartWhat it is
FeedPosts from members and the host, newest first. The host can pin a post to the top
Comments and reactionsMembers reply to a post and react to it with an emoji
AlbumEvery photo on an approved post, gathered in one place. Adding photos to the album is simply a post that contains only photos — it shows in the feed and in the album
Print requestsIf the host turns them on, members can ask for a printed copy of an album photo
Messages to the hostIn an Active Community, a member can message the host one to one

How people join

There are no typed codes to guess. A person joins in one of three ways:

Way inHow it works
Scan the community’s Linxy MarkThe Mark the community lives on — on a card, a poster, a table sign or a printed photo
Scan a Linxy IQThe host can generate a Linxy IQ for the community and print it on cards, signage or favors
Open an invite linkA shared link anyone can use, or a personal link for one person that expires

In the Linxy App, a person can look around first, then tap Join the community and choose the name other members will see. Their phone number and email stay private. The community then stays in the Communities list on their home screen.

Occasion guests join automatically. When a guest replies to an Occasion invitation that they are coming (or watching online), they join that Occasion’s community. Guests who can’t make it are not added.

The two kinds of community

The host picks one when turning the community on, and the choice is permanent for that Mark. To change it later, create a new Mark and move members over.

Active CommunityFusion Community
PlansFree and built inPro and up
MessagingThe community’s own messenger: members message the host one to oneEncrypted Fusion Connections (LEE): private channels and identity-bound messaging
SuitsFamilies, clubs, reunions, weddings, teamsCommercial use that needs premium controls

What the host controls

The host decides who can post (all members, or the host only as a broadcast), whether posts need review first, whether members can attach photos and videos, whether members can see each other, how members appear (name only, name and photo, or full profile), and whether anonymous posting is allowed. The host also sets the community’s name, welcome message, cover image and colors. See Hosting a community.

Privacy

Members see the display name each person chose — never their phone number or email. The host’s overview shows who connected and when conversations happen, but not what was said; conversations are read and answered in the Linxy App or the web conversation client.

Things people commonly get wrong

“A community is part of an Event.”Communities are their own space on a Linxy Mark. Occasions create one; commercial Events do not need one.
“Joining shares my phone number.”Members see only your chosen display name. Your number and email stay private.
“I can switch an Active Community to Fusion later.”The type is permanent for that Mark. Pick carefully, or start a new Mark.
