Selling tickets to your event

In short

Sell tickets to an event you host from the Linxy App: More Tools › Ticket sales. Buyers need no Linxy account. They pick tickets on your Get tickets page and pay with PayPal or a card (tickets go out at once), with Cash App or Zelle (you confirm the payment), or at the door. Once paid, each ticket is issued as an image carrying its own Linxy Mark. The gate scans that Mark, on a phone screen, on paper or on a wristband.

Setting up tickets

  1. In the Linxy App, open More Tools › Ticket sales and tap your event.
  2. Tap Add ticket type. Enter a name (for example General admission), a short description, the price (0 for free) and how many there are (leave empty for no limit).
  3. Under Rules, choose the most tickets in one order and how long before the event refunds are allowed.
  4. Set up Ticket payments (below).
  5. Switch the event from Draft to On sale.
  6. Share the Get tickets page link: put it on your bio page, your event Mark, or anywhere you promote the event.

A ticket type's price can't change once tickets of that type are sold or held. Add a new ticket type for a new price. A type with sales can't be deleted; it is taken off sale instead.

Ticket payments

Way to payHow it works
PayPal and cardsThe buyer pays on the Get tickets page with their PayPal account or a debit or credit card. The money goes straight to your PayPal account and the tickets are issued at once. Offered on orders of $5 or more. Needs the email of your PayPal account in Payment methods: a paypal.me name can’t receive these payments
Cash App, ZelleThe buyer's tickets are held while they pay you. You mark the order paid in Sales and holds, and the tickets are issued then. Uses the $cashtag and Zelle details from your Payment methods
CashAt the door only
Venmo, Apple PayNot available yet

Hold for sets how long tickets stay held (24 hours to start). Stop offering closes Cash App and Zelle a number of days before the event (3 to start), so every hold is settled in time.

What buyers see

  1. On the Get tickets page they choose tickets and see the fees and the total.
  2. They enter their name and email and choose how to pay.
  3. PayPal or card: PayPal’s buttons appear on the page. After paying, the page shows Finishing your payment for a moment, then their tickets. They have 30 minutes to finish paying before the tickets go back on sale.
  4. Cash App or Zelle: their page shows a countdown, your $cashtag or Zelle details, and a short order code to put in the payment note so you can match it. When you mark it paid, the same page shows their tickets.
  5. Tickets are shown on that page, and the tickets are emailed to them. Each ticket is an image with Save to Photos, which puts it in the phone's photos, ready to open at the gate.

Buyers don't need the Linxy App or an account. If they already have a Linxy account under the same email, the tickets also appear in My Tickets & Passes, where Ticket on each pass opens the ticket image, with Save to Photos. It is the backup when they are not entering with Fusion.

Sales and holds

Open the event and tap Sales and holds. You see tickets sold, on hold and refunded, your ticket sales, and the Linxy fees billed to you.

  • Mark paid (Cash App and Zelle): tap it only after the money has arrived. The tickets are issued and emailed at once. PayPal orders don’t need it: they are issued when paid, and show Paying in PayPal while the buyer is still paying.
  • Cancel hold (⋮): the tickets go back on sale.
  • Refund (⋮): the tickets stop working at the gate. For Cash App, Zelle and cash, send the money back yourself, the way the buyer paid. For PayPal, Linxy asks PayPal to send the money back. PayPal often doesn’t allow this for payments made straight to your account: the app then says Refund in PayPal first. Refund the order in your PayPal account, then tap I refunded it in PayPal.
  • If you refund a PayPal order in PayPal first, also tap Refund here, so its tickets stop working at the gate.

Holds that run out end on their own, and their tickets go back on sale.

Door sales

  1. Open the event and tap Door sales.
  2. Choose the ticket type and how many.
  3. Choose how they paid: cash, Cash App or Zelle.
  4. Optionally enter their name and email, so they get the ticket image for re-entry.
  5. Tap Paid · issue tickets and admit them.

On a tablet held sideways, the steps sit side by side.

Ticket style

Open the event and tap Ticket style.

  • Printed formats: choose which you use. Ticket · 6 × 2.5 in (the default, 3 per letter sheet, cut out), Card · 4 × 6 in, and Wristband · 10 × 1 in.
  • Ticket art: for each ticket type, upload your own design or use the event cover. Use a picture at least 1380 × 750 px (4.6 × 2.5 in at 300 dpi), JPG or PNG. It fills the picture area of every format and carries each ticket's Linxy Mark. With the event cover, Linxy adds the event name, date and ticket type. Upload your original design, not one that already carries a Linxy Mark.
  • Ticket numbers: an event prefix and a short code per ticket type make numbers like AF-GA-0007, in order of sale. They are printed on every ticket so you can find the buyer and the order in Sales and holds (search by ticket number, order code, name or email). They are never typed in for entry.

Changes apply to tickets issued from then on. Tickets already sold keep their look.

Printed tickets and wristbands

For a paid order, open Sales and holds, tap ⋮ on the order and choose one of the printed formats switched on in Ticket style. After a door sale, use the Print buttons. A print file opens on your phone: tickets come 3 to a letter page with a 1-inch check square, cards and wristbands one per page.

  • Print at 100% (actual size). Don't use "fit to page" or any scaling: each printed ticket carries its Linxy Mark at its exact printed size.
  • Wristbands are laid out for 10 × 1 in bands, with the first 1.6 in left clear for the adhesive tab. Use a color printer.
  • A printed ticket and the phone ticket are the same ticket: whichever is scanned first is admitted, and the other is then refused as already used.

At the gate

Every ticket carries its own Linxy Mark in the event photo. Scan it with Linxy Gate Q, from the buyer's phone screen or from paper. Each ticket admits once. Refunded tickets are refused. There are no QR codes or typed codes for entry. Account holders who enter with Fusion can still open the ticket image from My Tickets & Passes as a backup.

Fees and refunds

  • Linxy's ticket fee is shown on Ticket payments. It covers each ticket's Linxy Mark. Free tickets have no fee.
  • Choose who pays it: the Buyer (added to their total) or I do.
  • Fees on PayPal, Cash App, Zelle and door sales are billed to you monthly.
  • PayPal also takes its own fee from each payment you receive, as a percentage plus a fixed amount. Check PayPal’s fee page for current rates.
  • A refund cancels Linxy's fee for that order.
