In short
An Occasion is a gathering in someone’s life — a wedding, a reunion, a celebration of life, a block party — planned with an invitation that guests open and answer in the Linxy App. Occasions are separate from commercial Events, which sell tickets and run a gate.
Every Occasion comes with its own community, so guests can see who’s coming, get updates from the hosts and share photos before they even arrive. Organizers find them under Occasions; guests find their invitations under Invitations in the Linxy App.

The kinds of Occasion
Choosing what the occasion is sets up the invitation’s wording and reply questions to match. You can change all of it.
| Kind | Starts you with |
|---|---|
| Wedding | Formal wording, names of each guest, meal choice, dietary needs, seating wishes |
| Family reunion | Adults and children counted separately, which days, bring a dish, T-shirt sizes |
| Class reunion | “Your name back then,” which days |
| Celebration of life | “In person” or “Watching online,” and a place to share a memory. The family shares the stream link |
| Faith community | Children counted, childcare, volunteer shifts, bring a dish |
| Neighborhood | House number or street, bring a dish, volunteer shifts |
| School & sports | Player or student name, meal choice, volunteer shifts. Guest list only, and replies are seen by the organizers only |
| Birthday & milestones | Anniversaries, retirements, showers |
| Something else | A blank invitation |

Occasions and Events
They are built for different things and live in different places. Events are for organizers who sell or issue tickets and admit people at a gate. Occasions are for people gathering family, friends, classmates or neighbors, where the invitation and the reply are the heart of it. An Occasion never appears among your Events, and an Event never appears among your Occasions.
Where to find them
| On the web | In the Linxy App | |
|---|---|---|
| Organizers | Occasions, in the Connections group of the menu | Invitations, then the Hosting tab |
| Guests | The invitation link opens a page that sends them to the app to reply | Invitations on the home screen, below Connections, Communities and Events |
Organizers can do everything in the Linxy App: create the Occasion, write and design the invitation, record the host video, add guests, send, follow replies and message guests.
From draft to past
An Occasion stays a draft until you publish its invitation. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it. Publishing gives every guest a personal link and opens the Occasion’s community. The Occasion moves to your past list the day after it ends.
