Your passes

In short

Tickets and passes you have been given for events live in a wallet inside the App. Each one shows the event, what kind of pass it is, when it is valid, and whether it is still good. You reach it from More Tools → My Tickets & Passes, or from LinxyPass, where it sits alongside the list of sites your device is enrolled with.

The thing to understand before the day arrives is that a pass has three possible states and only one of them is recoverable. Valid means it will admit you. Used means it already has. Revoked means the organizer withdrew it. A used pass cannot be handed to somebody else, which is exactly why passing a spare ticket to a colleague is a decision to make the night before rather than in the queue.

Where the wallet is

The quickest way in is More Tools → Events & Access → My Tickets & Passes. The same wallet is in LinxyPass: open My Sites, and a segmented control at the top gives you two lists: Tickets & Passes, which is the wallet, and Devices, which is the sites this phone can sign you into. They share a screen because they are the same idea in two forms — things this device gets you into.

Until somebody issues you a pass the wallet says No tickets yet, and explains that passes you receive for events will appear there. Nothing is missing; there is simply nothing yet.

A note at the top of the wallet reads With Fusion, just scan at the gate to enter — no need to open a ticket. Your passes are kept here for reference. To accept a ticket someone is giving you, use Accept a ticket.

Reading a pass

On the passWhat it means
Event nameThe event this pass admits you to
TierThe kind of pass — general admission, or whatever categories the organizer has defined
SeatShown only where the event assigns seating
The windowDate and time. Events that have not fixed one show Date to be announced
Valid daysShown as Valid: and the days, listed individually on a multi-day pass, so a two-day ticket names both days rather than implying a continuous run
StatusValid, Used or Revoked — see below

A pass with a date to be announced is still a real pass. Organizers issue them ahead of confirming a schedule, and the date appears in the wallet when they set it — you do not need a new pass.

The three states

Valid it will admit you at the door Used already admitted organizer Revoked withdrawn Transfer is possible only from Valid and only when the organizer marked this pass transferable. Both arrows above are one-way. Scanning at the door is what spends the pass. There is no way back from Used. Sort out who is using which pass before anyone reaches the entrance, not in the queue.
The amber line is the one that costs people a ticket. The instinct at a door is to scan first and sort the details out afterwards, because that is how paper tickets behave — a torn stub can still be handed over. Here the scan is the moment the pass is spent, and a spent pass is no longer transferable to the colleague standing behind you. The queue is the wrong place to discover that.

Giving a pass to somebody else

Transfers work by code rather than by sending anything. You create a code on your pass, give it to the person however you like, and they enter it in their own App. Nothing moves until they do.

  • Transfer appears on a pass only when it is still valid and the organizer marked that pass transferable. Not every event allows it.
  • Creating a transfer produces a short code — eight characters. Case does not matter; the field puts it into capitals for you.
  • While a transfer is outstanding the pass shows Transfer pending. Tap it to copy the code again or to cancel.
  • Canceling puts the pass back to normal. A code that has been canceled cannot be used.
A pending transfer has not given the pass away. It is still yours, and still the pass that would admit you, right up until somebody accepts the code. That is why the code can be canceled — and why sending a code to the wrong person is recoverable if you act before they use it.

Accepting one

Accept a ticket at the top of the wallet asks for the transfer code the sender gave you. Type it in and the pass moves into your wallet. You do not need to know anything else about the event and the sender does not need to know anything about you beyond a way of passing you eight characters.

At the door

Admission is handled by the event’s own gate rather than by anything you do in the wallet. What is worth knowing as a holder is that whether you can leave and come back is set by the organizer on the kind of pass you hold, not by you. Some passes admit once. Some allow a fixed number of entries. Some are unlimited for the day.

If re-entry matters to you — stepping out for a call, going back to a hotel between sessions — ask the organizer what the policy is on your tier rather than assuming. The wallet does not show it, and finding out at the door is finding out too late.

Symptoms, causes and fixes

SymptomCauseFix
No tickets yet when you expect oneNothing has been issued to this account yet, or it was issued to a different oneCheck which account is signed in, and check with the organizer
No Transfer button on a passThe organizer did not mark it transferable, or it is already used or revokedNot something you can change. Ask the organizer
The pass says Transfer pending and you want it backNobody has accepted the code yetTap the pill and cancel the transfer
A transfer code will not be acceptedAlready used, canceled, or mistypedAsk the sender to check it is still pending and re-copy it

The pass shows RevokedThe organizer withdrew itOnly they can reinstate it or issue another

Things people commonly get wrong

“I can pass my ticket on after I have gone in.”Scanning spends it. A used pass is not transferable. Decide who is using which pass before anyone reaches the door.
“Starting a transfer gives the pass away.”It creates a code. The pass stays yours until somebody accepts it. Which is why you can cancel.
“Every ticket can be transferred.”Transferability is set per pass by the organizer, and plenty of events switch it off. The absence of the button is the answer.
“A multi-day pass covers everything in between.”Valid days are listed one by one. A pass naming two days admits you on those two days.
“I can leave and come back.”That depends entirely on the policy the organizer set for your tier. Ask before you walk out, not after.
