In short
Every new touchpoint, on the web and in the Linxy App, starts in the Create a TouchPoint wizard. It asks what you are making first — a Dynamic Link, a Linxy Mark, an NFC Tag and more — and then what it should do, because what you are making decides what it can do.
Everything you choose can be changed after the touchpoint is live, except what you are making.

Where to start
- On the web — open Create a touchpoint in your Linxy account.
- In the Linxy App — tap Create on the Home screen.
Both open the same wizard and create the same kind of record. The web version offers more choices; the App version is shorter and hands you to the web version, inside the App, for anything it cannot finish on the phone.
Select TouchPoint Type
The first step asks for the thing people will scan, tap or open.
| Choice | What it is | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Dynamic Link | A short link you can share anywhere. Nothing printed. Change where it goes any time | Web and App |
| Linxy Mark | Your photo or artwork becomes the touchpoint. Nothing visible is added | Web and App |
| Linxy IQ | A visible code plus an invisible Mark in the same image | Web only |
| NFC Tag | A tap, no camera. Write tags from the Linxy App, or order Linxy Tags preprinted and marked | Web and App |
| QR Code | A visible code any phone camera reads, made with a Dynamic Link behind it so it stays changeable | Web only |
For NFC Tag, choose how the tags will be made. Order Linxy Tags opens the Marketplace in the Linxy App: Linxy Tags arrive with an invisible Linxy Mark on the face, so a camera scan works as well as a tap. In the App you can instead choose Write it now and set how many tags to write from the phone once the touchpoint exists.
For Linxy Mark, the artwork comes after the destination. In the App, choosing Linxy Mark also checks your Mark credits straight away, so you find out before you start rather than at the end.
TouchPoint Purpose: every type, always listed
The second step asks what a scan or tap should do. The whole catalogue is always shown, in one column of groups: Get in touch, Social and reviews, Pages Linxy hosts, Files and media, Events and bookings, Business, Location, Products and labels, Network, Only with Linxy and Phone & device. Search it by name, for example “Venmo” or “menu”, or use the bar of group names at the top to jump straight to one. Phone & device holds actions for the phone itself, such as pairing a Bluetooth device, a phone shortcut, FaceTime, opening an app or a web search.
A type that cannot live on what you chose in step 1 is dimmed and says why, for example Needs an NFC tag or Needs a Linxy Mark. Go back a step and pick a different type of touchpoint, and it becomes available. Labels on the tiles tell you more:
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Native on a tag | On an NFC Tag, the content itself is written into the tag — Network access (Wi-Fi), Contact card, and Plain text or serial. It reads with no signal and no app, and changes only when you write the tag again. Opened as a link instead, a Wi-Fi touchpoint names the network but never shows the password |
| Two steps | In the App only: this type is finished in the full editor, which opens inside the App. Uploads such as a video, a PDF, an image gallery or any other file work this way |
| Opens the page builder, Opens My connect code, Opens LinxyPass setup, Opens in the app | This purpose is made in its own screen of the Linxy App, and the wizard takes you there. Bio page and the landing page starters (Pet ID, Lost and found, Luggage tag, Menu, Recipe, Lot and provenance, Safety data sheet, Reorder and more) open the page builder. Connect opens My connect code. LinxyPass™ opens its setup. Verified authentic opens the setup for Verified authentic tags, and needs NFC Tag in step 1 |
| Coming soon | Listed but not available yet |
- File upload accepts any type of file, up to 200 MB. An Image gallery is one touchpoint holding up to 50 images, with its own page for managing them
- Videos are converted so they play on every phone. For the first few moments after upload, opening the touchpoint shows Preparing your video
- Text page is now a landing page starter: it opens the page builder with a page of text you can add photos and buttons to. Existing content pages keep working and can still be edited
- The destination cannot be the touchpoint’s own link, or a short address that no link answers yet. It has to open content that lives somewhere else
On the web: Simplified or Full control
The web wizard opens with a choice of two paths. Both finish the job; the difference is how many decisions you are asked to make. You can switch at any point, using the button at the top, without losing what you have entered.
| Simplified | Full control adds |
|---|---|
| Select TouchPoint Type | A custom alias and domain for the address |
| TouchPoint Purpose, and the details | A serialized batch: many touchpoints, each individually identified |
| Name this TouchPoint | What happens on scan, and rotation |
| For a Linxy Mark or Linxy IQ: the artwork | Content privacy: a Shielded destination, the same URL Shielding as the editor |
| For anything printed: size and print | Routing rules (country, device, language) and timing rules (scan count, dates), plus an expiry |
| For a QR Code: how the code looks | Geofencing: a single area around an address, or saved zones |
| Who can open it: Public, Password, Linxy App required or Biometric | Fusion checks, NFC encoding, a community, and the preview card |
| Review & Create | Filing under a client and project |
Linxy App required and Biometric need a Linxy Mark or Linxy IQ; on any other choice they are dimmed. On the size step, the Simplified path will not let you continue at a size it considers too small to read; Full control lets you override that deliberately. See Creating a Linxy Mark for the size step in detail.
In the Linxy App: five steps
The App wizard shows its progress at the top, from 1 of 5 to 5 of 5.
- Select TouchPoint TypeDynamic Link, Linxy Mark or NFC Tag. Linxy IQ and QR Code are made on the web. Below them, Or collect files offers Secure Upload and Or build a page offers a Bio page and a Landing page (see below).
- TouchPoint PurposeWhat it should do. Types marked Two steps open the full editor inside the App and finish there.
- Link DestinationThe details for that type, such as the address or phone number. Required fields are checked before you can continue.
- Name and accessThe name is for you, not the public: it is how the item appears in your list. Who can open it offers Anyone, Password or Only people I invite. Only people I invite opens only on the phones of the people whose email you add, after Face ID or fingerprint, and everyone else sees a lock. Shield the address keeps the real address from ever showing, with any of the three. Where access can’t apply, such as content written onto a tag, this step is just Name this TouchPoint.
- Review & CreateEach line has Edit to jump back. Tap Create touchpoint.
Collecting files instead. Step 1 also shows Or collect files with a Secure Upload card. It does not make a touchpoint. It makes a private link that people use to send you photos, video and files, and every file is virus-checked before it reaches your account. Your secure uploads, under the card, lists your links and the files that have arrived. See Secure upload.
Building a bio page. Under Or build a page, the Bio page card opens My bio pages: one page at its own short link (Dynamic Link) for your links, photos, offers and ways to reach you, with 20 themes to start from. See Bio pages in the Linxy App.
Building a landing page. The Landing page card opens My landing pages: one page for one job, such as a pet ID, a lost and found tag, a menu, a lot record or a safety data sheet. Each starter asks a few questions first and builds the page from your answers. See Landing pages in the Linxy App.
When it is created
| Where | What the finish screen offers |
|---|---|
| Linxy App (the Ready screen) | Copy link, Share, Open link and Edit rules. With Only people I invite, add each person’s email under Who can open it; each one gets an invitation, with nothing to accept. For a Linxy Mark, Choose the artwork continues to the Mark. For NFC Tag with Write it now, a button writes the tags one by one. Then Create another or Done |
| Web wizard inside the App | Copy link, Share, Open the link, Edit rules & settings, Create another touchpoint, and Done to return to the App |
| Web | Copy link, a way into the new record (Open in Dynamic Links, Open in Linxy Mark, Open in Linxy IQ and so on), any follow-up such as encoding NFC tags or drawing a geofence, and Create another touchpoint |
Anything you open from the App opens inside the App, never in your phone’s browser. The new item appears in My Linxy: Marks on the Marks tab, everything else on the Links tab. If something went wrong, the finish screen says Nothing was created and you can go back and correct it.
Symptoms, causes and fixes
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A type is dimmed | It cannot live on what you chose in step 1 | Tap it to see why, then go back and choose a different type of touchpoint |
| Linxy IQ is not offered in the App | Linxy IQ is made on the web | Use the web wizard |
| “That’s this mark’s own link, so it would open itself” | The destination is the touchpoint’s own short link | Point it at the content itself — a video, a page or a file |
| “That address isn’t a live link yet, so it would open nothing” | The destination is a short address no link answers | Use the real address of the content |
| Cannot continue on the size step | The Simplified path refuses a size it considers too small to read | Widen the Mark, bring the viewing distance in, or switch to Full control |
| A video opens to Preparing your video | It is still being converted | Wait a moment; the page reloads by itself |
| Wanted to change what you are making | That is the one choice fixed at creation | Create a new touchpoint of the right type |
